RETURN

Before the typhoon makes landfall, a girl who never opens umbrellas has to return one she doesn’t remember borrowing. She has until dark to find its owner — or the rain will never stop.

About this game

A short atmospheric visual novel told over five rainy nights (about 15–20 minutes each; roughly 1.5–2 hours in total). Each night is a complete story with its own ending. After the fifth night, a free-replay mode unlocks.

There is no score, no stat screen, and no "good" or "bad" ending. The five endings are five ways of living the same dilemma — choices only shape the words she says.

Made in one day

This game was completed in a single day as a practice project — made to train the craft of game development and to explore how AI tools can speed up and optimize an indie game production pipeline, from script and art to code, audio, and localization.

What it's about

  • Rain is kindness. An umbrella is the decision to let yourself be protected.
  • A quiet story about owing, guilt, self-worth, family, and loneliness — told without judgment or easy answers.
  • One red umbrella that always ends up behind the door.

Content note: this story touches on self-worth, family relationships, loneliness, and the feeling of owing. It is not a diagnosis and points at no real person. If you are struggling right now, please reach out to someone you trust or to professional support — that is not a burden.

Features

  • Four languages: 简体中文 / English / 日本語 / Português (BR)
  • Five umbrella states on the title screen — the world quietly changes after every night
  • Save anywhere, backlog, auto-play, and skip-read controls
  • Original pixel-art style illustrations and a rain-layered soundscape

  • Click / Space / Enter — advance
  • A — auto-play
